Differences Between Cosmetic Acupuncture & Other Facial Services

By Antonina Bezsmertna

There are many facial services offered nowadays so it’s important to understand the differences between cosmetic acupuncture and other aesthetic facial offerings.

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture has been used for hundreds of years and is gaining even more popularity in modern times. The reason behind its effectiveness lies in the holistic approach that impacts 3 different levels of the body.

Level 1: Skin

With facial acupuncture, we work directly with the skin. The insertion of fine needles into the skin creates micro-trauma within deeper tissues of the skin, thus stimulating collagen and elastin production, which are essential for keeping the skin firm and elastic. This improves blood circulation to the face, which is why we receive a fresher, brighter, and healthier appearance. Micro-needling and derma rollers use the same concept. With acupuncture however, we are needling highly active points that have a systemic, rather than local, effect on the skin.

Level 2: Muscles

This level is extremely important for obtaining steady and long-term results.

Did you know that the face is the only area where the skin is directly connected to the muscles? There are around 72 muscles on our face and neck that are responsible for all sorts of movements.

Every motion that we make with our face (like frowning, chewing, and smiling) affect our skin. Facial expressions are manifestations of our emotions and over time can alter the way we look.

This is why any procedure that does not have an effect on the muscles beneath the skin, will not be as effective. Acupuncture works deeply and comprehensively on the muscle tissue so that we are able to release tension and spasms, restore symmetry, improve muscle tone, and ultimately reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles or sagging.

Level 3: Body and mind

Even if we aim to rejuvenate the skin with cosmetic acupuncture, we still perform an in-depth assessment to find the imbalances in the body that might contribute to premature aging, dull, uneven tone, puffiness, or other skin conditions. Every session involves body acupuncture followed by face needling. The reason behind this is that we need to rebalance the whole body to achieve steady results. Not only do we work with the physical body, but emotions play a big role in our facial expressions also.

By improving digestion, sleep, regulating hormones, boosting immunity, and balancing emotions we can receive results that will exceed expectations over aesthetic facial treatments.

Beauty is inevitably rooted in health. Without treating the root causes that are aging our appearance, we will not be able to access the power of natural beauty that is found within each of us. Facial cosmetic acupuncture does not underestimate the impact of these imbalances and aims to restore health to enhance vitality.  Treatments are individually tailored and consider your health history, predispositions, lifestyle, and current state of health.
